Description
Full Text

Yesterday afternoon a large party of gentlemen accepted the invitation of Messrs. Myer, proprietor of the pleasure boat CHICAGO BELLE, for a trip down the Niagara River. Among those present were members of the Common Counsel, city, county and government officials, besides a goodly number of well known citizens. A start was made from the foot of Main St. about 3:00, and the Niagara View House opposite Tonawanda, was reached in due time. Here the party went ashore and a meeting was organized. Mayor Dayton was called to the chair, and Mr. A.H. Blossom chosen Secretary. Resolution complimentary to the Messrs. Myer and their boat were adopted, and several speeches were made. The excursionists arrived at the starting point, foot of Main St., about 7:30, and all voted the trip a pleasant one.
The excursion was to have been made to Bay View, but the high wind which prevailed necessitated the change.
