Yesterday afternoon shortly after 4:00, a new canalboat, the P.J. HANOUR, was launched from the City Boat Yard on the corner of Green and Michigan Sts. The boat was built by Messrs. Edes, Russell & Heath, proprietors of the City Yards, for Capt. Maurice Murtaugh of Franfort, N.Y. The length of the new craft is 96 ft. 7 inches over all; she is 17 ft. 8 inches beam, 8 ft. 8 inches depth of hold; the sides ate 9 ft. 4 inches high. The HANOUR is 240 tons burden, and has a carrying capacity of 8,000 bushels of grain. She is well fitted up and is a fine boat in all respects. Capt. Murtaugh will command her.
