The new iron ferry boat HURON was launched at Point Edward at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

More about the launch of the HURON. Miss Jessie S, Hughes of Toronto broke the traditional bottle of wine over her bows. She was launched sideways perfectly. Her hull is entirely of iron and was built at Newcastle, England from where the plated were shipped to Point Edward and there put together. Work began August 12, 1874 and losy but one day in her construction. Mr. A.P. Hannaford, Chief Engineer of the G.T. had general charge of the boat while the immdeiate supervision of the work was carried on by Mr. C. Hughes and Mr. John Smith. Her engines and boilers were built at Dundas, Ontario by Mr. Wilson.
