Eaglescliffe Hall (Freighter), 30 Oct 1954

October 1954 - On the 30th, Captain R. Scott Misener, president of Colonial Steamships, Ltd., of Port Colborne, announced the purchase of seven canal size vessels from the Hall Corporation of Montreal, Canada. This is the largest transfer of Canadian ships since the eastern fleet was purchased by Upper Lakes and St. Lawrence several years ago, and brings to 33 the total number of ships in Colonial's fleet, second largest in tonnage on the Canadian Great Lakes. The ships are the W. B. REYNOLDS, the CONISCLIFFE HALL, EAGLESCLIFFE HALL, MEADCLIFFE HALL, ROCHELIFFE HALL, WESTCLIFFE HALL, and GEORGE L. EATON. They are approximately 253 feet in length, 43 1/2 feet beam, with draft of 20 1/2 feet. Five were built in 1927 and 1929 and two in 1947 in British yards.
