WILL BE NAMED THE HENRY A. HAWGOOD.
Cleveland, May 24. -- The 10,000 ton steamer building at Lorain for the Minerva Steamship Company will be named for the late Henry A. Hawgood. It will be ready for service Sept. 1.

NEW HAWGOOD STEAMER WILL CARRY 10,000 TONS.
The dimensions of the new steamer HENRY A. HAWGOOD, which was christened at Cleveland Saturday, are as follows: Carrying capacity, over 10,000 tons. 552 feet overall, 532 feet keel; 56 feet beam and 31 feet deep. She will have 32 hatches, spaced 12 foot centers. The new boat will have triple expansion engines, with cylinders 23-1/2, 38 and 63 inches with 42 inch stroke. Steam will be furnished by two scotch boilers 14-1/2 feet in diameter and 11-1/2 feet long. The boilers, which will be fitted with the Ellis & Eaves draft. The new steamer was the last of the three big freighters that were ordered by Henry A. Hawgood, who died last spring, to be launched. The other two are the HARVEY D. GOULDER and the J.A. RIDDLE.
