A NEW MILAN VESSEL. -- The schooner MYSTIC, built at Milan during the past winter, by Messrs. Raynor & Bates, was taking on a cargo at this port yesterday. It has become a proverb that all the vessels built at Milan equal the best constructed at other ports on the Lake, and while our knowledge of marine architecture is too limited to place us among the best judges, we are certain that those who inspect the MYSTIC, will decide with us that Milan mechanics are entitled to all the credit heretofore allowed them. The Mystic's dimensions are: Length, 112 feet; beam, 25 feet; depth of hold, 9 feet; and under the old measurement is 233 tons burthen. She is constructed in the most substantial manner; all the timber in her was carefully selected, and while everything about her is plain and unpretending, to the most casual observer she has evidence of superior skill in construction. The cabin is large, airy, and fitted up with good taste, and possesses a convenience which we have never seen in a sail vessel on the Lakes. Everything about the vessel is new and of the best description, and her superior does not float upon out "Inland seas."
The MYSTIC is owned principally by W. E. Bates, of Milan, and is commanded by Capt. Seth Lee, an experienced navigator on the lakes.
