Canadian (Schooner), 1 Nov 1875
- Full Text
The schooner CANADIAN narrowly escaped being wrecked yesterday. When the gale was at its height yesterday afternoon she passed the harbor, the snow falling so thick it was impossible to see land. After the snow squall passed Captain McGrury saw the piers and was compelled to haul his schooner close into the wind to fetch the harbor. As she wallowed up the lake seas boarded her from every direction, but she behaved well and reached port safely, with the loss of her jibs.
