Narrow Escape. - The Leviathan had a narrow escape from sinking while endeavoring to rescue the schooner BRIGHTIE last week. She was engaged in breaking the ice in order to reach the schooner, when a large mass was caught between the hull and one of her wheels, and became wedged in so firmly as to force itself through the hull. The mishap was discovered only when the water had risen to within a few inches of the grates of the furnace. By cutting away the ceiling the leak was reached and stopped with bedding. The tug was then headed for North Bay, where the damage was repaired. Had the leak been discovered five minutes later than it was the tug tug must inevitably have gone to the bottom, as the hole proved to be large one. - Milwaukee Wisconsin.
