      The "Fascination" Launched from Goble & Macfarlane's Yard

The yacht which has been in process of construction at the shipyard of Goble & Macfarlane for some time past, was introduced to the water yesterday afternoon at six o'clock. This yacht, which is a model of beauty and symmetry, was constructed on plans furnished by N. C. Goble and under the watchful eye of the young builder, and certainly reflects credit upon his good taste, rare skill and judgment.
As the yacht Fascination is the first one ever built at this port, she deserves more than a mere passing mention, as she will doubtless mark an era in ship building in Oswego. She is built in the most substantial manner, is thoroughly fastened, and presents the appearance of not only a good safe sea boat, but a fleet sailor as well. Although she appears short for her beam, yet her ends are very sharp, and the lines show no abruptness. She has plenty of dead rise and presents a bottom to the water which offers no obstacles to progress. Her dimensions are: Length 31 feet, beam 11 feet 6 inches; depth of hold 4 feet. She is sloop rigged with a main mast 34 ½ feet in height, topmast 16 feet, bowsprit 8 feet, outside, jibboom (sliding) 7 feet, main boom 30 feet, and gaff 13 feet. She will spread 932 square feet of canvas, consisting of the following sails: Mainsail, flying gaff topsail, job and balloon jib. She
is a centre board boat and will when ballasted draw 3 feet of water. In her fit out she is much better furnished than many vessels, having all of the modern improvements. She has the wire rigging, fitted at the loft of H.W. Green, and canvas neat and well fitted from the same loft.
The cabin, which extends above her deck, is large, airy, and comfortable, has four large bunks, a galley in the bow, and will be furnished in style and upholstered with "reps." There will be accommodations aboard of the yacht for ten or twelve persons, without crowding, although it is not the intention of the owners to convert her into a passenger boat. Aft of the is a large couch put in which six or eight persons may comfortably sit and watch the movements of the yacht as she gracefully dance over the billows.
The Fascination, which by the way has a handsome suit of colors, consisting of ensign, burgee, jack and fly, presented by Mr. Daniel Lyons, is owned by N.C. Goble and James D. Macfarlane. She cost, all told, about $1,200, a trifling sum when it is compared with the pleasure and health that may be derived from her.
We wish her good luck and hope she is but the forerunner of many yet to be built at this port, confident as we are, that she will compare favorably we say of the yachts turned out by famous builders in New York and Canada.
