GRAND EXCURSION - The proprietors of the KALOOLAH have made arrangements for an
excursion to Detroit on Wednesday next, the 4th of July. It is pretty generally known that the fourth of July is to the Americans what the Queen's birthday is to the British, namely, `The National Holiday', because the National Independence dates from that day. Brother Jonathan goes into the spirit of the thing with his whole heart and soul, and a "12th of July" in an American city, such as Detroit or Buffalo, is a sight well-worth seeing. Messrs. VanEvery and Rumball, wishing to give the country folks a fair chance, of availing themselves of this excellent opportunity of seeing Jonathan "in all his glory", have issued their Bills early; and as the KALOOLAH will leave Goderich on the previous evening, thus afford an opportunity of witnessing the commencement and whole proceedings of the day, at Detroit, a very large turnout from both Town and country may be expected.       GODERICH TO SARNIA & PORT HURON, KINCARDINE, SAUGEEN, etc.
      1860 SPRING ARRANGEMENTS 1860
      The Splendid, First Class, Upper Cabin, Sidewheel Steamer KALOOLAH
      (Capt. D. Rowan)
      Will run as follows, until further notice, commencing on the opening of navigation.
      Will leave Goderich for Saugeen calling at Kincardine, Port Head, Inverhuron, Bay du-Dore, & Port Elgin, (weather permitting) on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays at 7 o'clock a.m.
      RETURNING
Will leave Saugeen (calling as above) at 3 o'clock p.m. same days.
Will leave Goderich for Sarnia & Port Huron (on the arrival of train from the East on Buffalo & Lake Huron railway) on the Evenings of flonday & Wednesday, arriving on Tuesday & Thursday mornings, respectively, in time to connect with Ward's line of Steamers to Detroit & Morning train on Grand Trunk Railway.
      RETURNING
Will leave Sarnia for Goderich (on arrival of Ward's steamer from Detroit & train on Grand Trunk Railway) on the evenings of Tuesday & Thursday, and proceeding to Saugeen, etc., as above.
The KALOOLAH has been thoroughly overhauled and repaired and her boilers are entirely new. She has excellent cabin and State Room accotnmodation and large carrying capacity, and is in all respects well suited for the Lake Shore Route.
