AT THE SHIPYARDS. - In Chicago, the schooner ÆTNA has had "an after end" rebuilt, which keeps her in B1. She comes out with three masts instead of two, as formerly.
The schooner G. D. NORRIS has also received quite large repairs.
The bark PESHTIGO has been altered into a three-and-after.
The schooner CUYAHOGA has received new deck and deck frames.
The HARVEST QUEEN has received new hatches, hatch combings, bulwarks, rail, etc.
The ALBATROSS has received new deck and deck-frames.
The schooner PENSAUKEE had a new deck.
At Milwaukee, the schooner TWO FANNIES has received entire new ceiling, floor, keelson, two new keel boxes and her frames made as good as new.
The bark RED, WHITE and BLUE had been thoroughly rebuilt above and below.
The schooner GEORGE WESTCOTT been lengthened and repaired.
At Manitowoc the schooner TRAVELER was thoroughly rebuilt, and her name changed to HENRY BERGER.
The schooner RAINBOW has been thoroughly rebuilt, and now classes A2.
The schooner Imperial has also been rebuilt.
At Grand Haven the schooner ATAUNTO has been rebuilt aft, and has received a new rail and combing board.
The ROSA BELLE has been rebuilt, and will class B1. Work has been done on Kirby, Furlong & Co.'s barges.
At Holland the propeller SKYLARK has had large repairs - new ceiling, deck, deckframes, stanchions, etc.
A Manitowoc the schooner RAINBOW has undergone a complete rebuilding. She is a very old vessel, and her repairs have been more extensive than at first thought necessary to make her an A2 vessel. Her repairs will probably cost $6,000 to $8,000.
Rand & Berger have also built a new schooner for Cooper & Jones, Chicago. Her dimensions are 127½ feet keel, 27½ beam and 9½ hold.
The schooner M. L. COLLINS, of Milwaukee, has been lengthened 14 feet and rebuilt. Her repairs have been extensive and complete. She has also been changed from a two into a three-master. Her present dimensions make her nearly full canal size. Her repairs will cost about $8,000.
Another old vessel that comes out this spring with a new lease on life is the IMPERIAL, formerly of Chicago. She was bought at Marshal's sale last fall by P. Johnston and O. Forrison. She will be out May 1st. Her repairs are about the same as COLLINS, though she is a little the larger of the two, and will probably cost $10,000.
The steamer ALPENA comes out almost entirely new, as hardly any of the old ALPENA remains but her model and name. She has new keelsons, gallows frame, deckframe and deck. Her hull has been fastened throughout and furnished with strong iron braces; her new arches are nearly twice as strong as the old ones and far more substantial. Her cabin is nearly all new and will be more comfortably arranged than the old one.
