LAUNCH. -- About 3 o'clock this afternoon, a numerous assemblage of the inhabitants of this town and the surrounding neighborhood, took place to witness the launch of Mr. P. McGlashan's schooner. Precisely at 3 o'clock the signal was given, she began to move, the gun was fired, and she glided off in majestic style into her native element, amid the hearing cheers of the spectators. The ceremony of christening was performed by Mr. Thomas, be demolishing a bottle of Cogniac on her figure head. As she neared the water, a flag unfurled from the mast head proudly display her name --"ATHOL."
The ATHOL will sail for Kingston in about 10 days, with a cargo of wheat, the produce of our own neighborhood. Several passengers will proceed with her. -- Sarnia Spectator
