The new Beatty Line steamer MONARCH slid down the ways at Sarnia yesterday at 4:04 o'clock. beside the many people on both sides of the river, the steamers CONGER, CAMPANA, J.C. CLARK, DORMER, ATLANTIC and a dozen tugs and scores of row boats were loaded with passengers. The MONARCH is 259' x 34'.8" x 4'.8". She is built of white oak, strongly braced with iron. She has 62 staterooms. She will be towed to Buffalo to receive her boilers. She cost between $180,000 and $200,000. The steamer CONGER towed her to the docks after the launch.

Sarnia, June 26. -- The North Western Transportation Co.'s propeller MONARCH was launched here today. She measures 259' x 34' 8" and has a full length cabin containing 62 staterooms. She will be towed to Buffalo to receive her boilers and will be in service in July. Her cost is between $150,000 and $200,000.

Love & Schofield will build a steel smokestack for the steamship MONARCH of the Beatty Line. It will be made of 1/4 inch steel, 7 feet in diameter and 36 feet high. It will be the largest smokestack ever made in Michigan.
