Full Text

The steamer LLOYD S. PORTER was successfully launched Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock before many people who crowded the banks to witness the launch. The barge was named after a little son of John W. Porter. She is built for the Jenks Steam Boat Co., with a view of selling it when completed. She is 158 feet keel, 30 feet beam and 10 feet depth of hold. It will be towed down the river and a new boiler and engine will be put in at once. As soon as the launch was over it began to rain and there was a scatter for shelter.
