The Barkentine THERMUTIS, Capt. Chas. Gale, of Cunningham, Shaw & Co.'s Line arrived here today fron liverpool, direct, and is now lying at Hamilton's wharf. This is the third vessel of the line that has arrived during the present season. The THERMUTIS has a registered tonnage of 310 tons British measurement, and classed A 1, at Lloyd's for seven years. She left Liverpool on the 20th of July and was 42 days to Quebec. This was rather a long passage and was caused by the prevalence of head winds during the entire passage, and foggy weather in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. She passed through the Straits of Bell Isle, encountering some 55 icebergs, one of which is stated to have been 190 feet in height and above one half mile in circumference. The cargo of the THERMUTIS consisted of 640 tons for Montreal, Toronto and Hamilton and a small quantity for Detroit. A vessel in inducing the Toro???? to send out another vessel this season- the ETOWAH - one firm alone in Hamilton offering to furnish a full cargo.
