A Fair Load. - On Thursday of last week, we noticed the propeller Akron, Capt. John Brown, coming in with flying colors. A few days after, happening to meet Captain Bryan, the Company's Passenger Agent at this port, we were speaking about the Karon, and asked the Captain what sort of a load she took out the other day.
Says the Captain: "Well, a very fair sort of load; she had on sixty-one full passengers, twenty-five horses, and thirteen wagons, besides some other freight matter." Well, now, thought we, if that's what you call a fair load, we'd like to know what it takes to constitute a full one?
It is a matter of wonder to visit the freight houses of the N.T. Company, in this city, and see the piles and piles of freight waiting shipment. Every boat carries off tons of this, yet the quantity seems scarcely to grow less. The business of this line the present season, both in passengers and freight, has been unprecedented, and its prosperity promises to be long continued.
