Maritime History of the Great Lakes

Ashland (Brig), 6 Apr 1844

Description
Full Text

Two splendid brigs, the CLEVELAND, of 205 tons, and the CUMBERLAND, of 195 tons, have been recently launched at Cleveland, and will soon make their appearances here. The ASHLAND belongs tp Pease and Allen, and the CUMBERLAND to Winslow and Co., and are represented as being of most approved models. Several other large brigs are now building at various points between this port and Chicago, which when added to the 30 brigs already in commission, will give us a fine array of that class of vessels.
