The British Government have made a contract with the Niagara Dock Company, to build a war steamer for lake Erie, of 400 tons burthen. The vessel will be built at Chippewa, where the company has purchased ground for a ship yard, which is now in course of preparation.

The armed steamship built by the British government, is to be launched at Chippewa, this day.

Owing to the inclemency of the weather, the launch at Chippewa did not take place until yesterday. The new craft is called "THE QUEEN."
