Buffalo - By the arrival at this port of the sloop CONTRACTOR, J. Beard, Master, from Chicaugou, (sic) information is received of much damage having been done among the shipping on the lake, in the late storms. The sloop COMMENCEMENT has lost her cables and anchors. The schooner AMELIA, lying near the mouth of the Cuyahoga, parted her cables and was driven down in the gale. The schooners CATHARINE and MARY, have, it is said, also sustained some injury. The PACKET OF CUYAHOGA, Luther Chapin, Master, has not been heard from, and fears are entertained that she is lost. Her cargo consisted principally of salt and household goods - she had likewise a number of passengers.
