PRESIDENT Schooner, waterlogged with loss of deck load, on Lake Michigan, near St. Joseph's.
      Buffalo Courier (casualty list)
      March 17, 1848


      PRESIDENT Schooner, became water logged Oct. 12, 1847, and tried to make St. Joseph, in going in she struck the pier carrying away her gibboom and bowsprit and loosened her foremast, she pounded about half an hour on a bed of rocks and finally got in with the loss of her deck load and boat - leaking badly - cargo below, wheat.
