Jan. 11, 1856 (Casualty List)
The brig JOHN IRWIN was lost at Two Rivers. She took out clearance for Milwaukee from this port on the 27th Oct., but whether she sailed that day or not, we are not informed. She was owned by Capt. James Conoly, of this city, and J.M. Isaacs, of Chicago, but formerly of this city. Her cargo consisted of 60 tons iron, 2000 kegs nails, 3000 boxes glass, and 56 tons merchandise, a greater portion of which was shipped by the C. & P. R. R. Co., and by Hubby, Hughes & Co. The vessel was built at Black River, as we are informed by or for Wm. Adair, some eight or nine years since. -- Cleveland Herald, 9th.
