OCEAN Brig (C), cargo timber, and Barque JOHN SWEENEY collide off Grand River C. W., Lake Erie. Property damage to both vessels $4,000

The Canadian brig OCEAN, from Nanticoke, C. W., and the bark J. SWEENY, hence for Chicago, collided on the 11th, off Grand River, light, damaging the latter to the extent of about $400. The brig lost her main rigging, split fore and main sails, and stove her bulwards and carried away her stanchions about 20 feet forward.
