ASHORE. -We learn that the propeller NIAGARA, bound for Milwaukee, with a cargo of merchandise, got a hole knocked into her hull off Presque Isle and the captain ran her ashore in a sheltered position, where it is said she will lie easy and safely until spring.

Capt. Smith reports the propeller NIAGARA ashore inside Presque Isle bay, Lake Huron, when he left. The QUEEN OF THE LAKES lay there for some time, but was unable to get to the NIAGARA on account of the masses of thick floating ice in the Bay. - Milwaukee Sentinel

PROPELLER NIAGARA -The propeller NIAGARA, which went ashore near Presque Isle late last fall, was got off last week, and arrived at this port last evening. At the time of going ashore, she was bound up the lake, and loaded with
dry goods, groceries, brandies, wines &c. She lay during the winter with about 3 feet of water in her hold, and the damage to her cargo, therefore, is immense. Much of her cargo was damaged so as to be entirely worthless. Among other things in her hold was about ten tons of coffee, which was entirely spoiled. The vessel and cargo were both fully insured. She has two large holes in the after part of her hull, but was enabled, by keeping her pumps continually going to keep above water, and make her way down. She will go into the dry dock for repairs
immediately. - Detroit Free Press
