Schooner KETCHUM, cargo lumber, ashore on Bois Blanc Island; jetted 50,000 feet cargo and got off. June 1856. Property loss, hull $1,500, cargo $1,300.

The schooner KETCHUM, bound from Saginaw to Chicago, with a cargo of lumber
struck on the foot of Bois Blanc Island on the 7th; jettisoned about 100,000 feet, got
off, leaking badly, and put into Duncan's Bay, where she sunk.

The schooner KETCHUM, owned by the Messrs. Burgess, of this city, some days
since, got on a reef near Duncan's Mills, Mackinac Straits, and by throwing over
about 20 M, lumber, succeeded in getting off. She went into the Sheboygan River,
and now lies there somewhat damaged, and in a leaky condition. Apparatus will be
sent to her speedily, to pump her out and repair her. It is thought she can be repaired
in a few hours. - Chicago Tribune, Monday
