SERIOUS COLLISION. - We learn of another collision resulting in serious damages on both sides which took place on Tuesday night, between the schooners WINGS OF THE MORNING and WAURECAN while beating up on Lake Huron.
The particulars we gather are about as follows:- Both vessels an hour or two previous to the collision were towed into the lake by a tug, where they found the wind ahead, which compelled each vessel to haul by the wind. After a short interval they came in stays, and the WAURECAN while atttempting to pass under the others stern ran foul of her, carrying away the quarter, also the small boat, which was broken into fragments, and her mainsail badly torn. The WAURECAN was equally as unfortunate, having her jibboom, bowsprit handgear carried away, besides serious damage to her bow. The WINGS OF THE MORNING has returned to this port for repairs, and the WAURECAN is repairing at Port Huron. The damage to each vessel will not be less than $600, if not more. - Detroit Free Press.
