THE SCHOONER PIERPONT ASHORE. - A correspondent of the Detroit Post, dated
Detour, August 21, says that the schooner PIERPONT, from Cleveland and Detroit, laden with coal and water lime for Silver Island, ran ashore near Detour lighthouse Saturday night. A heavy southeast gale was blowing. The schooner is probably a total loss. The deck load of coal has partly washed off. The mate left in charge will commence striping the vessel tomorrow morning. The PIERPONT is a craft well advanced in years, having come into commission in 1852. She was built at Sackett's Harbor by Ellenwood, and is 182 tons burthen. By whom she is at present owned or whether insured, we are unable to state. She hails from Superior City.

BROKEN UP. - Capt. Kelly, of the steamer PACIFIC, informs us thst the schooner PIERPONT is beyond recovery. Her bottom is broken up and her coal is washing ashore. Her sails, rigging and spars had been taken out of her, and the vessel virtually abandoned. She is owned by Mr. Coburn, of Superior City, and insured to the amount of $3,000.

THE SCHOONER PIERPONT REPORTED OFF. - News has reached Detroit that the
PIERPONT, which went ashore at Detour, and was said to be a total loss, has been pulled off by the tug LEVIATHAN and is now on her way down the lake. We give the rumor for what it is worth, hoping, but doubting, that it is true.
