      ASHORE IN THE STRAITS. - The captain of an up-ward bound propeller reports number of vessels ashore in the Straits of Mackinac--the result of the recent gales and the smoky atmosphere. The schooners JAMES GARRETT and AMERICAN UNION the former loaded with lumber and the latter carrying grain, are ashore at Beaver Island, the UNION dismasted......
