DISASTERS ON THE RIVER. - During the storm that prevailed Saturday night, a number of disasters occurred among the shipping on the river, including several collisions, and a number of vessels have been at the ship-yard of Fitzgerald & Leighton for repairs. The three masted schooner JAMES L. BENTLY [sic] broke her topmast and sustained injuries about the bow in a collision with the FAVORITE. The latter craft is also being repaired. Messrs. Fitzgerald & Leighton have put in a new jib-boom, cut-water and several minor repairs. The CHANDLER J. WALSH collided with the CREAM CITY and lost her jib-boom, the CREAM CITY having had her port side stove in sustaining serious damage to her hull. These two vessels are lying at anchor in the Canada channel just below Sarnia and were forced together by the swinging around of a raft of logs in tow of the tug. Two other vessels were injured at the time, the scow CITY OF DETROIT and the schooner CRAWFORD which was taken to Detroit for repairs. The bark LOTTIE WOLF was supplied with a new top-sail -yard and center-board box, and the S.D. HAMMOND was caulked. The tug J.C. CLARK while taking a tow up the lake was run into by the schooner MONITOR, the bowsprit of the latter carrying away the top of the tug's pilot house. The latter underwent repairs this week. The week has been indeed a busy one at the yard of Messrs. Fitzgerald & Leighton. Those energetic builders expect to get all the vessels off Thursday evening.
