Was pleased to see this article. What could have been a very tragic ending, ended up showing what brave men they were to put their lives in danger. Also it was a man I knew many many years ago that was mentioned. Mr. Middleton was my sister in-laws Father in-law. I only heard this story years after Mr. Middleton passed away.

The boiler from the Alexandria still protrudes out of Lake Ontario and is easily seen. During the 70ies the kids of Scarborough would have bon fires on the shore which they referred to as "Boiler Parties".
