Milwaukie (Steamboat), collision, 12 May 1838

ANOTHER COLLISION. -- The steamboats CINCINNATI and MILWAUKEE came into collision at the mouth of the piers this morning, and the former was much damaged. The CINCINNATI was going out and the MILWAUKEE entering the piers. The bow of the latter struck the CINCINNATI just forward of the starboard wheel house, and cut her through the guard and into the hull. The CINCINNATI was brought back to the head of the piers where she sunk in a few minutes. We did not learn the probable amount of the damage, nor to which the blame is attributable. Of one thing we are certain, that there must have been want of care somewhere. The bow of the MILWAUKEE was somewhat battered, but not seriously damaged. The engine of the CINCINNATI we believe was not broken. No person was injured.

Another -- The steamboat CINCINNATI was run into by the steamboat MILWAUKIE, at Cleveland, yesterday morning, and sunk. They met as the CINCINNATI was coming out, and the MILWAUKIE going in.
We do not know that any lives were lost, or other damage done. The CINCINNATI was a small boat, plying between Cleveland and Detroit.

COLLISION.---The steamboat MILWAUKIE, on her late trip from this place, came in contact with the steamboat CINCINNATI, a small craft plying between Cleveland and the Maumee River. The last named boat was coming out of the harbor, and instead of keeping to the right, as is customary, she continued on her course, and the consequence is, hat she now lies "in the deep bosom of the lake buried"
The MILWAUKEE received but trifling injury, she being constructed of substantial materials and ironed throughout.
