Lake Disasters -- On Saturday last a violent gale commenced blowing from the North West, which continued during the night. Considerable damage was done to shipping on Lake Michigan, but as yet we have heard of no lives being lost. At Michigan City two large schooners were driven ashore; one, the MICHIGAN, with a large amount of merchandise for A. Coquilard & Co.,of South Bend, most of the goods lost or damaged, no insurance. Another small schooner, name not known, drifted inside the pier, dashed in her stern and sunk. The schooner AGNES BARTON was driven out but with but the mate and two hands onboard. She has not since been heard from. --- Niles Intelligencer
We are informed the AGNES BARTON passed down Lake Erie since the gale. - Eds. Herald & Gazette

Lake Disasters-- We are indebted to Capt. Appleby of the steamer CONSTITUTION, for a knowledge of the disasters which have occurred on the Upper Lake (Michigan). He has just returned from Chicago, and says that he passed no less than six schooners ashore. The names of only three could be ascertained, viz: The BUCKNOR, MICHIGAN and OTTAWA. From the situation of the vessels, and the extent of the gale, much damage, both to cargo and craft are apprehended.-- Buffalonian
