Port Huron, Mich., Sept. 24. --The Steambarge SANLAC, bound down, ran aground on the Middle Ground, near Point Edward last night, during a heavy rain squall. She is out about eighteen inches forward and one foot aft. The tugs SWEEPSTAKES and BOB HACKETT went to work on her at daylight. They had been working but a short time when the HACKETT got out of position and the SWEEPSTAKES picked up the HACKETT's towline in her wheel. The SWEEPSTAKES then went aground and is still on at noon today. The Collector of Customs at Sarnia seized the SWEEPSTAKES for wrecking in Canadian waters.

Tugs SWEEPSTAKES and BOB HACKETT went to work her off at daylight. They had been working but a short time when the HACKETT got out of position so that the SWEEPSTAKES could work ahead, and the SWEEPSTAKES picked up the HACKETT's towline in her wheel. The SWEEPSTAKES then went aground and is still on at noon today. The Collector of Customs at Sarnia seized the SWEEPSTAKES for wrecking in Canadian waters. - Port Huron Report.
