We now live at Greenough Point and have found many remnants of this barge. It is sad that lives were lost especially children. It must have been a terrifying ordeal for the family and crew. Ourselves and other residents have kept the barge pieces safe and should anyone related to this incident be interested we would make our place available for visiting. Mary Houston

These articles fail to mention that not just John McKay risked his life to save this crew so did James Creighton MacDonald. Both men were awarded a gold medal from the President of the of the United States for their Gallant Service. If anyone has more information I would welcome it.
