Grand River, May 7. - During the southwest gale yesterday afternoon, the schooner ADELAIDE, in attempting to make this harbor, struck on the eastern pier, carried away her bobstay, swung off, let go her anchor, and after dragging some distance, slipped her cable and put to sea. Her chain cable and anchor were afterwards recovered by the U. S. Revenue schooner ERIE, Capt. Knapp. The schooner COM. CHAUNCEY bound up, entirely light, in attempting to come in at 12 o'clock last night, ran on shore to the westward of the west pier, but was got off and brought safely into port early this morning, by the prompt assistance rendered by the U. S. Revenue schooner ERIE, Capt. Knapp. She has lost her rudder and received some damage in her bulwarks. The COM. CHAUNCEY reports having fallen in with the SMEAD on Thursday off Long Point, capsized and full of water; took from her a main boom, topmast and some running rigging. The captain thinks she must have drifted on shore about 20 miles to the westward of Port Stanley. Crew all saved.
