The ARGONAUT was caught in Lake Michigan,and had a narrow escape. The sea breaking over her firehold and put the boiler fires out, but by cutting through the bulkheads, and letting the water into the hold, they were able to start them again and get steam to work her off shore. - Escanaba Report
