ABYSSINIAN Steamer, of 726 Tons Reg.,15 years of age. Home port, Montreal. While anchored at Sorel November 13, 1883, she was blown ashore in a gale at Chenaille du Moine, Sorel. Her stranding is listed as a partial loss of $500.

ABYSSINIAN Can. Official No. 51694. Built Clayton N. Y. in 1847 as U. S. ONTARIO. Became Canadian 1867, a paddlewheel steamer of 1064 Gross Tons. 230 x 32 x 11. Wrecked Sorel November 13,1883.

NOTE:- The Prelim. List suggests she was a total loss on November 13, 1883. and she does appear in the "Statement of Steam Vessels Lost, Broken up or Laid up in 1884" but not in the 1883 statement ?? However she was likely not worth repairing and was scrapped after her accident.- Media Type
