The schooner FANNY CAMPBELL, of St. Catharines, from Windsor to Collin's Inlet for a cargo of lumber, went ashore at Horse Island during the gale of Wednesday night. The captain and mate came down by the SEYMOUR; they think the vessel a total loss. A tug will be sent to her assistance. She was insured for $12,000.

The steamer MAGNET, which left here a few days since to rescue the schooner FANNY CAMPBELL from George Island, Georgian Bay, where she had gone ashore, returned to this port on Sunday night having abandoned her. She was found lying upon the rocks in water from 12 to 14 inches in depth, her keelson broken and the vessel otherwise badly shaken. The violent state of the weather prevented any recovery of her outfit. Her small anchor with about one shot of chain was lost at the time of going ashore. Her large anchor with a portion of chain was left on her decks. Her sails, light spars, rudder and other outfit were taken off and brought away. The CAMPBELL was built at St. Catharines in 1868 by Shickluna for Graham & others and was valued at $16,000 in gold. She was 400 tons burden and rated A 2.
