Henry Clay (Steamboat), broke machinery, 27 Jul 1826

While the Steam-boat HENRY CLAY was entering Sandusky Bay, on Friday morning last, a part of her machinery, called the Air Pump Beam, was broken near the center. She had lain at anchor, the principal part of the proceeding night, in consequence of the difficulty of finding the channel; and had just got under way, in a smooth sea, when the accident took place. Its cause is quite inexplicable. By some slight alterations in the machinery, she was enabled to perform her trip to Detroit, and touched here about 1 o'clock, on Tuesday last, on her return to Black Rock, where it is expected she will be detained for a few days, to make the necessary repairs.

STEAM-BOAT ACCIDENT.---On the 27th. ult. on her passage up, the machinery of the
HENRY CLAY was somewhat injured, so much so as to impede her progress to such a
degree, that she will not perform her regular trips, until the damaged part is replaced by a new one. She was near Sandusky, when the accident took place, but pursued her voyage to Detroit, and returned to this place early this morning. From the alertness of the agent, who repaired to New York for the part of machinery required, it will probably be received here in the course of next week
