Swift (Steamboat), exploded, 5 Apr 1859

EXPLOSION. -- Two men injured.---The steam Ferry boat SWIFT, plying between St. Clair and Moretown, exploded on the 5th., with terrific force, throwing pieces of the boiler, &c., 80 rods. Two men playing cards in the cabin, were thrown 20 feet from the boat into the river. They were badly injured, but will probably survive. The boat was at the dock, and but few persons on board. Only two persons were hurt.
