A RELIC.---There is now at the paint shop of the Messrs. Millers, one of those beautiful prints elegantly framed, of Walker's GREAT WESTERN before she was destroyed by fire, and whatis more strange the material of which the frame is composed, is from the first vessel which navigated our Inland Sea. We copy the inscription:
"This picture was presented to A.V.Catlin, by Augustus Walker, of the Steamship GREAT WESTERN, Oct. 17, 1839. The frame was manufactured by Carey & Roberts, from a plank of the Schooner "GRIFFIN," built at Chippewa in 1699 (sic.), being the first vessel upon Lake Erie. The plank was preserved by the American Fur Company."
There is therefore no doubt of its authenticity, and we rejoice to hear that the indeatigable Walker is going ahead with his noble vessel. She has been repaired at Huron - is newly fitted up, and will when she again visits our harbor, astonish all, and even excell her pristine. Buffalo Com.
