The ferry steamer GEORGE JEROME was run down by the DETROIT at the Windsor dock on Wednesday evening and sunk.

      Wednesday, September 28, 1871

      On the 20th. of September 1871, the small steam yacht GEORGE JEROME was sunk while approaching the dock at Windsor, by getting under the port guard of the ferry boat DETROIT. No lives were lost, and but little damage done beyond the expense of raising the yacht.
