Queen City (Steamboat), broke arches, 1 Jun 1854

The Detroit Free Press says that the steamer QUEEN CITY, belonging to the Chicago and Sault route, arrived from above yesterday. During a gale on Lake Michigan, a few days ago, she broke her arches. She is now in this port where she will undergo repairs.

ACCIDENT TO THE QUEEN CITY. -- Capt. Squier of the propeller ORIENTAL, brings the intelligence that he left the steamer QUEEN CITY, on Thursday evening, at Twin Rivers, having put back there with her arches broken. He says, however, that she will be able to make her trip to the Soo. He also reports a top-sail schooner, (name unknown) ashore at that place since Wednesday night. The Milwaukee Wisconsin of Friday says " The ANDES is still aground in the mouth of the river. The schooner EMPIRE STATE is afloat, and is now receiving a cargo of 11,000 bushels of wheat, at Messrs. Wells & Hill's warehouse. -- Chicago Journal.
