Chicago, June 4. -- Advices to Chicago underwriters state today that the steamer GEORGE PRESLEY, ore laden, ashore at Sand Beach, Lake Huron, was scuttled by the captain to keep her from pounding to pieces. The sea was heavy and the damage could not be estimated. The PRESLEY is owned by Juluison and others of Cleveland, is valued at $120,000, and insured partly with Crosby & Macdonald.
