Conneaut, O., April 10.
Gents - We have had a severe storm on this part of the lake, which has been the cause of some disasters. Of the large number of vessels which left your port on Monday, the brig ST. LOUIS, Capt. Webster, the brig UNCLE SAM, Capt. Vail, and the schr. HARVE, Capt. Huggins, made our harbor early on tuesday morning, though not without the former sustaining considerable damage. The St. LOUIS ran foul of the little stm. GEN. SCOTT which took shelter here from the weather, and deposited her largest anchor in the wheelhouse of the GEN. SCOTT, besides sustaining some injury herself.
The wreck of the brig T.W. MAURICE, Capt. Wiard, in making our harbor last week, during a severe gale, is among the first fruits of the season, resulting from the loss of the bill for the improvement of the harbors, the protection of the commerce of the Western lakes, and the preservation of the lives of those who, "go down upon the waters."
Business, in this region, has revived with the opening of navigation, and the prospects are fair for a season of activity in all our pursuits.
