Early Wednesday morning the schooner MARY A. SMITH, a vessel worth about $600, and bound from St. Joseph to Chicago, was discovered waterlogged with the captain and a sailor clinging to the rigging, the vessel being a complete wreck. Four of the crew were drowned.

New Buffalo, Mich., September 11th. - Early this morning the schooner MARY A. SILLS, (SMITH) a vessel worth about $600, and bound from St. Joseph to Chicago, was discovered water-logged, with the captain and a sailor clinging to the rigging, the vessel being a complete wreck. The two men were rescued in an exhausted condition, and reported having been capsized in the storm of Tuesday night. Four of the crew were drowned, one being lashed to the rigging. Their names were James Campbell, Michael Kelly, a man known as Pat, and an unknown lad of 16. A passenger named Grey was also drowned.

The body of a seaman, supposed to be from the schooner MARY, that was wrecked near New Buffalo last week, was found 3 miles south of St. Joseph on the 23rd.
