VESSELS BURNED. -- The telegraph brings us the news that the steamer CITY OF SANDUSKY and schooner WILLIAM ELGIN were burned at Port Stanley on Friday evening. The steamer is a well known passenger vessel which last season plied between Port Stanley and Cleveland.

      The schooner WILLIAM ELGIN, was not totally destroyed at Port Stanley a few nights ago as was reported. The stmr. SANDUSKY was totally destroyed.

      A circular in the Tug Assoc. office announces that a reward of $2,500 will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the party or parties who are supposed th have set fire to the steamer CITY OF SANDUSKY, at Port Stanley, on of March.

THE MONITOR'S SUCCESS. -- A letter received from Captain Snow yesterday states that the wrecking steamer MONITOR, which has been at work at Port Stanley for some time, has succeeded in raising the sidewheel steamer CITY OF TOLEDO, after having taken out all of her machinery. After placing the CITY OF TOLEDO in good quarters the MONITOR will begin the work of raising the HAWLEY barges, sunk near the piers at Port Stanley. --- Detroit Free Press.

      The machinery of the CITY OF SANDUSKY, which burned at Port Stanley has been taken out and will be sold for old iron. It is so badly damaged by fire that it is useless, except the shaft and walking-beam. The hull will be raised and then sunk in deep water.

CITY OF SANDUSKY. -- The machinery of the CITY OF SANDUSKY, burned last spring at Port Stanley, has been taken out and will be sold for old iron. The hull or what remains, has not yet been raised, but will be, and towed out into the lake and sunk again. It was burned almost to the keel, and is not worth preserving. The machinery was so badly burned that it was useless, except the shaft and walking-beam, which are about as good as ever. The wrecking tug MONITOR has the contract for the work at a thousand dollars. The money realized from the sale of what remains above this sum will go to the owners of the SANDUSKY, while if it should fall short they must make up the difference.
