W. M. Alderson (Propeller), C73920, fire, 4 Aug 1891
- Full Text
A Port Dover dispatch says: At 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning the large pleasure steamer WILLIAM ALDERSON was discovered to be on fire, but the flames had gained such headway that nothing could be done but to cut the steamer loose from her moorings and let her drift out into the bay to prevent the destruction of other vessel property, the piers and the lighthouse. When the steamer had burned to the water's edge the steamer IVEY ALDERSON went out and towed the hull containing the engine and boiler close to shore, where it now lies in about four feet of water.
