Schr. C.G. ALVORD, of 264 tons. Owned at Detroit by Stuipson & Co. Bound from Detroit to Toronto; vessel went ashore at Burlington Beach, Lake Ontario, December 1867, a total loss. Loss to ship $12,000; loss to cargo $18,500. Insurance on ship $12,000; insurance on cargo $12,500.

MARINE DISASTERS - Hamilton, Dec. 16 - The schooner C.G. ALVORD, of Detroit with 150,000 bushels wheat, bound for Oswego, when near that port, was caught in the snow storm of Thursday last, sprung a leak, became unmanagable, drifted the entire length of Lake Ontario, beached near this city on Friday morning, and will prove a total loss. The crew were all saved, but in a frozen and exhausted condition.

The schooner C.G. ALVORD of Detroit, three masted schooner was wrecked in mid December 1867 on the shore, just east of Burlington Beach, near the foot of Stoney Creek Road, on the farm of Peter Van Wagner, (just above the farmhouse.) The wreck was stripped and her cargo of grain salvaged.
