Kingston, Oct. 8 - The schr. DEFIANCE, laden with lumber, from Toronto to Ogdensburg, went ashore on Snake Island reef during the gale this morning, and is in a dangerous position.

SCHOONER DEFIANCE - The schooner DEFIANCE, which went ashore on Snake Island Reef, Lake Ontario, and reported to be a total loss, was built at Port Hope, in 1839, measured 141 tons burden and rated B 1, she was valued at $3,500.
