Negaunee (Schooner), lost part deck load, 4 Oct 1894

Description
Full Text

Marquette, Oct. 4 - The stmr. SARAH SHELDON and consorts NEGUANEE and ELY
arrived last night, and their captains report a very rough experience off Keweenaw Pt., Sunday and Monday. Capt. Holmes of the SHELDON said that the gale was the worst he had ever experienced. The SHELDON's rudder was shipped and it was finally temporarily repaired. This lasted until the boats were under the shelter of Keweenaw Pt., where better work could be done. The masts were also badly damaged and new ones and a new rudder are being made here. Part of the NEGUANEE's deck load of lumber was washed off and the ELY lost all of her deck load and her yawl boat. The waves broke in the SHELDON's engine room and did much damage. The steamer is leaking but not seriously. The 3 boats were bound for Chicago with lumber from Duluth. The boats all belong to the Bradley fleet
of Cleveland.
